When you create a mySocial Security account, you can claim your Social Security number and prevent someone else to make transactions in your name. If your Social Security number has been stolen, you can call the Social Security fraud hotline at 1-80 or report it to the Federal Trade Commission website. Report your stolen Social Security number If you discover that someone has taken out credit in your name, you can use these credit reports to help restore your credit. You may call the following numbers to temporarily lift the freeze: Equifax: Call the telephone number provided in your security freeze confirmation letter. You can use these reports to search for activity you don’t recognize. A security freeze is designed to prevent the information in your NCTUE data file from being reported to others, such as service providers and other companies. Review on the Annual Credit Report siteĮvery 12 months, the Annual Credit Report website gives you credit reports at no charge from all 3 credit bureaus. A temporary lift can last between one and 30 days. When you contact a credit bureau, that bureau tells the other 2 bureaus to place a fraud alert on your reports. Permanent Credit Freeze Lift There are two types of credit freeze lifts: Temporary lift. Teletrack is not able to place a security freeze with any other entity on your behalf.Someone else can use your name, Social Security number (SSN), address, and date of birth to take out credit in your name. If you wish to place a security freeze on your credit report with any other consumer reporting agency, such as the three nationwide consumer credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion), you will need to contact those companies directly. TransUnion You can submit your request online, by phone, or by mail. Please note that this process only places a freeze on your Teletrack file and not on any file which may be maintained by one or more affiliated companies or any other consumer reporting agencies. If you need to lift the freeze temporarily for a period of time or a particular company, see instructions below. Once frozen, your Teletrack consumer file will only be released, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law, such as to your existing creditors, when you directly contact Teletrack, provide us with your personal PIN, and request that any information Teletrack has on you be released. Once a security freeze is in place, Teletrack will provide you with a personal PIN. You can also lift a security freeze by phone by calling our automated line at (800) 349-9960 or calling Customer Care at (888) 298-0045. If you do not complete the authentication process, Teletrack will be unable to place a freeze on your file. After Teletrack verifies your identity, it will place a security freeze on your Teletrack consumer file. Placing a security freeze on your credit report is free. Upon receipt of your request, you will receive an email from Teletrack requesting you to complete certain steps to authenticate your identity.
